Place of Safety
Childline operates a Place of Safety facility where we provide temporary and emergency safe places for up to 20 children in need of care aged 0 to 5, as well as at times older girls. There is a big need for this facility in Botswana.
Botswana Police Service and S&CD Departments in all districts of Botswana place children at the facility. Childline provides 24-hour accommodation, food, clothing, counselling and play therapy to the children.
The children come from backgrounds of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Registering mechanisms, systems and procedures to ensure high quality service delivery are in place.
There is a senior social worker and two social workers employed to assist clients. The project is in need of financial support to sustain and develop its operations.
